Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic candidates to join our Pastoral team.
As a Pastoral Student Supervisor, you will contribute to delivering an exceptional provision that supports student wellbeing, learning and safeguarding outside the classroom, during term time and holiday camps. The role requires you to demonstrate good organisational and strong communication skills to effectively engage with children and parents.
This is a part-time fixed-term contract which entails:
- between 24.25 hours and 26.5 hours of work per week during term time, from Monday to Friday.
- 35 hours of work per week during holiday camps (3 weeks in total outside term time)
The hourly rate is £13.85 gross (i.e £15.66 including holiday pay), which derives from a full-time equivalent salary of £28,808 gross per annum.
Key responsibilities
- Actively lead students in engaging and age-appropriate activities during recess, after-school care provision and holiday camps
- Supervise EYFS or Primary students of all ages during non-classroom hours: e.g. recess, toilet breaks, lunchtime, after-school care provision, recess, etc.
- Occasionally assist with personal care, including toilet use (only applicable for any roles in EYFS)
- Monitor student arrivals and departures from the school premises, keeping the attendance records
- Assist ASP leaders and teachers in moving safely the students from a place to another where needed
- Manage student behaviour and conflicts by applying the school's code of conduct
- Report incidents or concerns in a prompt and accurate manner
- Monitor students' emotional well-being and developmental progress
- Build and maintain effective communication and outstanding relationships with parents
- Chaperone students on class outings
- Provide first aid care when required
- Undertake occasional administrative duties
- Fulfill any additional duties as requested
Education & experience
- Previous experience in education or child care sectors desirable
- Speaking French is a plus
- Strong knowledge of what safeguarding & child protection entails
- Good listening and communication skills
- Ability to strike a balance between discipline and support
- Team player
- Accountable and punctual
- Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive or confidential information
- Calm and patient under pressure
- Ability to adapt/react effectively to any circumstances
- Computer literate
